It’s me again! Today I finished up this painting that I started last week. I was pulling from several different images and ideas, and just worked through them intuitively. I love this series! The yellow glow reminded me of sunrise so I decided to include dawn in the title somehow.
I’m still two days behind on the 30 in 30 challenge, so I will be trying to post two paintings each day. Fortunately, I have had no shortage of inspiration this month so the ideas are literally more than the canvas available.
Hey guys! Today it rained in Abu Dhabi and stormed with hail in other parts. It’s been a gray, cloudy day, and I’m not complaining. I decided to spend my day indoors and get to some of the commissions ahead of me. This is of a sweet dog named Zoey who passed away recently. She was a joy to paint. I loved capturing her coat and sweet nature. I had many photos to choose from, but thought this captured her in a simple, but pretty light.
I decided to capture the process and share it with you, so here it goes:
I’m happy with how well the portrait came out. I don’t typically paint dogs or cats, but some are just adorable and this girl was no exception. The final portrait moved the original owner to tears, so I can say, my job here is done. All on a rainy day’s work!
This painting happened by accident. Essentially, all good paintings do. I was struggling with a portrait of a woman and after several wipes, just decided to ruin it. Completely express what I was feeling. Defeat, frustration, exhaustion. When I finished, I realized I painted myself, in some roundabout way because by the end of it all, I captured exactly what I was feeling. If that’s not art, I don’t know what is haha
I wanted to ring in the month of Ramadan with some new colorful paintings in my collection. I am offering these pieces and many more for sale in my shop at 15% off. I also have my limited edition prints on sale as well so it’s a great deal! Coupon code: SUMMER is valid until July 15th.
Meanwhile, I’ve been honing in on my abstract work to make way for lots of big things this fall. Really excited for the present and the future!
It’s that time of the year again! Ramadan is upon us and observant Muslims are fasting all over the world. I spent the last few days painting as much as I can, in time for my summer sale. I decided to paint some more representational art as I close out the month.
I’ve been interested in exploring palm trees and beach umbrellas, but just briefly. My real passion right now continues to be abstract art, and I have to make time for myself to create it without being distracted with my cute camels and such!
Below is one of the last paintings I completed and features a vibrant abstract sky with a desert theme. Of course, inspired by my time in Abu Dhabi, UAE. I will be posting more of my art to come!
P.S. I’ve been contemplating doing a 100 abstract paintings in 100 days challenge. I just have so much I want to experiment with, new materials, new color schemes, and new techniques. Wonder how it would go!
